SV: Scupper Valve
The scupper valve in the Atomic Aquatics snorkel design is based on the same principle as the one-way scupper valve in boats. When waves or spray enter the boat, a one-way rubber flap located on the deck near the stern opens, allowing water to drain, and then quickly closes to prevent wake buildup. The simple scupper valve effectively keeps the deck free of water buildup.
SV: Small & Versatile
Before embarking on a new design, we surveyed divers about the snorkels currently available on the market. The overwhelmingly biggest complaint about snorkels was their size. The modern diving snorkel has evolved into a large and difficult-to-maneuver device. Divers were abandoning snorkels due to their size, discomfort, and lack of performance. Atomic Aquatics envisioned a smaller, sleeker design that was easy to deflate and comfortable to use.
