Hot-dip galvanized steel cylinders in the “Steel Beast” design are particularly suitable for heavy-duty use, such as sidemount diving or use in salt water. To make this technically possible, high-quality steel is used in the manufacturing process. The cylinders are immersed in a liquid, hot zinc bath. The zinc forms a metallurgical, solid alloy with the steel, thus protecting the cylinders from corrosion better than any other external treatment. Hot-dip galvanizing is carried out in accordance with the usual industrial standard and results in a partly irregular, rough surface structure with various shades of gray and black. The surface consists of excess zinc and may show small furrows, grooves, or scratches. However, these do not affect the excellent corrosion properties of our Steel Beaster cylinders.
Hot-dip galvanized cylinders must not be completely painted, and we advise against the use of protective nets.
